The following are some of my favorite passion projects. I often start a project or hobby and then hyperfixate on it for days or even weeks, learning new techniques and skills through experimenting and researching. These are some of my favorite things to work on because, while I enjoy the end product, I have the most fun during the actual creation process.
This originally began as a gift to my high school environmental science teacher. It's a play on words of "nitrogenous bases," which are components of DNA. I took inspiration from the fonts and style of traditional comic books
Concept Sketch
These playing cards were designed in Adobe Illustrator. I experimented with different colors until I found the ones that worked best. I took inspiration from high-end-restaurant plating to create the suits, and researched how chef hats indicate ranking in the kitchen to create the face cards.
The suit symbols take inspiration from garnishes or sauce platings. The box mockup depicts a bowl of soup with garnish, using the same colors as the cards themselves.
